Irish Cheltenham Winners Can Take Home More, If They Choose The Right Provider

With less than six weeks to go until the start of the Cheltenham Festival, racing fans across the world are eagerly awaiting the iconic sound of the ‘Cheltenham Roar’, which bellows out from the stands at the start of the Supreme Novices Hurdle, which raises the curtain for the weeks racing.

For owners, jockeys and trainers, the principal focus at Cheltenham will be attaining as much sporting success as possible, where they will attempt to put their names in the history books. But with sporting success at the festival comes money, and this year will be more lucrative than ever.

Festival prize money looks set to exceed £4 million for the first time this year, with the Timico Gold Cup boasting a pot of £575,000, which is £25,000 more than last year. There is also a bigger prize fund in the Champion Bumper, increasing by 16.67% to £70,000 and nine out of the ten handicap races throughout the week will have a more valuable purse than before. The new Mares’ Novice Hurdle will also have an enviable prize pot of £75,000 and although there have been calls for a much more generous increase in prize money, there is no denying the vast amounts of cash which are up for grabs.

At last year’s festival, there were thirteen Irish trained horses that picked up winning prize money alone, not to mention the other Irish horses who were placed throughout the week. Naturally, this prize money is received in sterling, and of course needs to be converted into Euros, then sent back to Ireland.

It is highly likely that the owners, trainers and jockeys who converted their winnings with their default racing bank account would have seen a fewer amount of Euros on the other side of the transaction, compared to winning connections who used an alternative currency provider like Racing FX.

At Racing FX, we always encourage people in the racing industry to move away from the out dated, traditional providers and to join us in the future of money, where we’re confident that Racing FX customers will receive a better service and more value for their money.
