Excellent Racing In Store For The Open Weekend At Cheltenham

Cheltenham Racecourse opens it's doors once again today for The Open meeting which will be taking place across the whole weekend. Racegoers will also be able to see the brand new grandstand, which is the final part of a huge redevelopment of the racecourse.

Looking at today's racing, where the feature race is the Glenfarclas Cross Country Chase, jockeys will be fighting it out on Cheltenham's iconic cross country course, for the first place prize pot of  £15,000. Horses to look out for here will be Josies Orders, ridden by Nina Carberry, as well as Uncle Junior who will have Patrick Mullins on the saddle. Katie Walsh will also be involved in this one, riding Dogora.

Tomorrow is Paddy Power Gold Cup Day, and for many racing fans, this is the day that whets the appetite for the Cheltenham Festival in March. There is always a tremendous atmosphere and this weekend will be no exception. David Pipe has Kings Palace in the feature race, who'll be ridden by Tom Scudamore and is considered by many to have a very strong chance after showing excellent form first time out. Johns Spirit will also be running for Jonjo O'Neil's yard which will also be fancied by the Cheltenham crowd.

On Sunday, there are six more races, which include the stanjames.com Greatwood Hurdle, where Nicky Henderson,  John Ferguson, Paul Nicholls and Willie Mullins will all have runners. It's safe to say that we have a cracking weekend of racing to look forward to at the world famous Cheltenham Racecourse and we can't wait for the action to get underway.
