It was the Irish Grand National on Monday and ROGUE ANGEL was always going to get the three and a half miles. It was always going to be a battle to the line, but Ger Fox did it well and got a great win.
I rode last year's winner, THUNDER AND ROSES, who ran well for a long way, but just had too much weight to compete towards the end of the race. There were plenty of English runners that came over, which was great to see, winning a Grade 1, Grade 2 and Grade 3 and hopefully there will be more British trained horses taken over to the Punchestown Festival later this month.
I've had a small muscular problem in my leg over the last couple of weeks, so I have decided to take it easy for a few days, so unfortunately, I'll be out of action this weekend.
ROAD TO RICHES runs tomorrow at Navan in the Webster Cup Chase and he should win with Davy Russell on board. He ran very well at Cheltenham against VAUTOUR in the Ryan Air, where I came second on VALSEUR LIDO. They'll be looking to get ROAD TO RICHES on a winning track tomorrow, and if he comes out on top, he stands a great chance in the Gold Cup at Punchestown.
There will be a strong team of horses heading over to Aintree next week and I'm confident that my leg will be right after I have rested it, so I'm hoping to have a strong meeting.
