Cheltenham Festival Blog: Day 3

We've reached the halfway point of the Festival, and going into Ryan Air Day, there looks to be another exciting day of action ahead of us.

Yesterday, I cam fourth in the Neptune on BELLO CONTI, who ran very well. He had only won his Maiden Hurdle and then went straight to Cheltenham, so he did himself proud here, running a great race and he's one to look forward to next season.

ARBE DE VIE ran very well in the Coral Cup and until we went to turn in, I thought we had a great chance. I tried my best to get him going but he just didn't get into it at the end.

I rode VERY MUCH SO in the Champion Bumper, who has been off the track for nearly two years. He ran a respectable race, finishing in eighth place. He'll improve off that run and hopefully he can do well next year as a novice hurdler.

Looking at today's card, and I will be on MOUNT GUNNERY in the JLT, who is a nice horse, who won his beginners chase very well. He's 100/1 at the moment, and shouldn't really be much shorter. He should stay, but if I'm honest, we'd be very, very lucky to get a place.

In the Ryan Air Chase, I think VALSEUR LIDO has a great chance in a race that has plenty of pace, which I think will play to his strengths. We'll look to ride just off the pace, and he stays very well, so with the group of VAUTOUR, ROAD TO RICHES and VILLAGE VIC setting the pace, it should be a good staying race, and one where I think VALSEUR LIDO could do really well.

The main race today is the Ryan Air World Hurdle, where I can't see THISTLECRACK getting beaten. He's a horse with so much class, who will definitely stay and should win easily.
