ACAPELLA BOURGEOIS Should Enjoy The Ground On Day 2 of Punchestown

BRAIN POWER ran very well in the opening day of the Punchestown Festival yesterday. He jumped very well and I think he’ll be a chaser for next year. I came second on ANCIENT SANDS in the 4.55 Handicap Hurdle and I thought he’d run a big race. It’s hard to get a run at Punchestown, where ideally we’d liked to have been covered up for a bit longer and we had to come wide, but that’s taking nothing away from the winner, TEMPO MAC, who was very good. RULE THE WORLD was in better form than Aintree. He felt great, jumped great and started off really well. He pushed wide turning in, but I think he probably needs to run further.

I ride ALL HELL LET LOOSE in the 4.20 today, who ran in the Pertemps at Cheltenham and has had a few good runs against some good novices. He’s fit and well and I think he can run a good race.

ACAPELLA BOURGEOIS is a very tough horse and I’ll be on him in the Novice Hurdle at 4.55. He’s won two Grade 2 races and does it the hard way, running from the front. Punchestown and the nice ground will suit him and I’d say this is my best chance of the day.

FOLLOWMEUPTOCARLOW is a thirteen year old horse who is trained locally by Tom Donohue. He ran well the last day and on drier ground he normally takes his time. I think he has a great chance of picking up a place today.
