Punchestown Festival Blog: Day 3

HEAD TURNER Can Go Close In The Mares Novice Hurdle

ALL HELL LET LOOSE ran well yesterday and with quicker ground I think he will win a beginners chase in the summer. I was on ACAPELLA BOURGEOIS, who ran a good race in the 4.55 Novice Hurdle and I think he is a chaser in the making. My third ride yesterday was with FOLLOWMEUPTOCARLOW who got a bump at the first fence and then landed on the second fence. He wasn’t able to get into a rhythm after that and his race was over.

My first ride of the day is on THE BROCK INN who I rode at Fairyhouse and came second on her. She’s a great mare and she’ll win a Handicap off her current handicap mark. I think she’ll have a great race today and has a good chance of picking up a place.

LIEUTENANT COLONEL ran well in Navan before going to Cheltenham where he got pulled up. I’ve put a line through his Cheltenham run and will forgive him for that. He’ll be hoping for an easing in the ground and over three miles he has a good chance of placing.

In the 6.05 Handicap Hurdle I am on BURGAS who won his Maiden Hurdle very well, but was disappointing in Fairyhouse where he pulled up very quickly after the second last, so something went wrong that day. Hopefully he’ll put that behind him and I’m hoping he can run a good race.

HEAD TURNER bolted up the last two times and needs to find a lot on ratings, but Pat Fahey thinks an awful lot of her. She was very impressive last time out and I think she’ll go very close.

It will be interesting to see DOUVAN later who is against some very good horses again and if he wins today as impressively as he has done all season, I think he will be the best horse I’ve ever seen and could be the best ever!
